APS Reunion 2007.

Friday 5th October & Saturday 6th October.

Bosworth Hall Hotel, Market Bosworth

In 2007, our APS Annual Reunion was held during the weekend of Friday 5th / Saturday 6th October in the Bosworth Hall Hotel, in Market Bosworth, Warwickshire.

51 people arrived on the Friday evening and, after the excitement of meeting friends they hadn’t seen in some cases for many years, spent the evening sharing their news and photos.

On Saturday, we were joined by another 24 people, making a group of 75 for the day of the Reunion. Several groups were celebrating special Anniversaries: 1967 had 33 of the year there to celebrate 40 years since leaving College and one of them had travelled all the way from the U.S.A. just for the weekend! 9 of the 1962 group were there to celebrate their 45th Anniversary. 8 past students from 1955 group, celebrated 55 years since they started at College and 4 from the 1972/3 celebrated 35 years since they left.

For many of them it was their first Reunion since College days and all seemed to enjoy meeting again and sharing a very busy day.

45 people stayed on the Saturday evening to complete the Reunion weekend with a special meal in the Hotel in the evening.

The Committee hopes that many of them will wish to join us again at the Reunion in Liverpool in October 2008. This will be held in the Alicia Hotel. Sefton Park, during the weekend of Friday 3rd / Saturday 4th October.

We have included some photographs taken at the Reunion in Market Bosworth and a few comments from people who were there.

A gallery of photographs taken at the Reunion can be found here. There are 2 pages, so don’t miss the second page. Also remember to click on a photo to see an enlarged version!

Marion (1950) wrote ‘I have just returned from the APS Reunion in Market Bosworth. It was a great weekend and although I was the only representative from our year – and the oldest one there! – I enjoyed the company of many others whom I knew from previous reunions or through Lacrosse or teaching. It was held in a fabulous hotel and the whole weekend was well organised by our Committee – reminiscences, stories, photographs and lots and lots of laughter that made it a very special two days.’

Margaret (1955) said ‘What an enjoyable weekend at Bosworth Hall! So much reminiscing, so much laughter, so many photographs, old and new. … I would like to thank the APS Committee for all their work to make the weekend run so smoothly, so enjoyably and so much of interest. To those of the 1955 Set who have yet to sample an APS weekend, do try to make it to Liverpool next year.’

Judy (1962) wrote ‘Congratulations to the members of the ’62 Set. We managed a 25% of the year turnout at the Market Bosworth Reunion in October ’07 – not bad after 45 years. The weekend may have been relatively brief but we packed a lot of talking into it. It is reassuring to know that we can still just pick up where we left off even if there are a few more grey hairs about … it was an excellent weekend.’

Jennifer (1967) wrote ‘APS Day this year proved to be a wonderful 40th Anniversary reunion for our year. How could we have managed such without the incredible hard work, dedication and persistence in chasing fellow students of Jean (our Set Rep)?
Thanks a million Jean. I hope you thought it was worthwhile. Where have all the years gone? Everyone was so recognisable. It seemed as if we had never been away from IMM.’

Mavis (1967) wrote ‘We had enjoyable lunches and dinners together, and swapped stories of what we had been doing over the years. For me, the weekend was a real tonic, and made me feel 21 again! The amount of work in the planning and making contact with everyone was very much appreciated!’

Pauleen (1972) says ‘I thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with Kath, Barbara and Kat at the Reunion at Market Bosworth. It was wonderful to catch up. It was great to see so many IMMers, so obviously fit and well! It was just a pity that more 1972 leavers were unable to make this, our 35th reunion. However, perhaps we will manage more for our 40th – the 1967 leavers’ turnout was fantastic – they were certainly doing a lot of catching up!’

Members of the Committee were delighted that everyone seemed to have an enjoyable day and they hope that members will join us next year in Warwick. If you would like to become a member of the Association you can apply through the ‘How to Join’ section of the website.
